HELICOPTER TOURBARCELONA

About us

The people behind your flight

Helicopter Tour Barcelona is the English-language booking service for helicopter sightseeing over Barcelona and Montserrat. We don't own or fly the aircraft ourselves — we work with Barcelona's licensed helicopter operator to bring you their flights, handle your booking end to end, and confirm every detail in English over WhatsApp before you land in the city.

Who actually flies the helicopter?

Why we work this way

Every flight on this site is flown by Barcelona's established helicopter operator out of the Port Vell heliport — the same pilots, aircraft and AENA-regulated procedures whether you book through us or walk up to their desk directly. What we add is the part that's usually missing for visitors booking from abroad: a website and booking flow in English, WhatsApp confirmation in your own time zone, and a team that can answer questions about weight limits, weather policy and check-in before you've even landed.

Think of us as the front desk for these flights, not the flight deck. Your ticket, your flight time and your pilot come straight from the operator. The reservation, the reminders and the customer support come from us.

The fleet

Robinson R44 or Airbus AS355 — which one will I fly?

Two aircraft cover the six routes on this site, and which one you fly depends on the tour. The Robinson R44 is a four-seat, single-engine helicopter used for the smaller private charters — the Coast & Besós Tour and the Coast & Montserrat Tour — capped at three passengers so everyone gets a window seat either side of the pilot.

The Airbus AS355, a twin-engine aircraft with a wider cabin, flies the Sky Tour and the Sky & Montserrat Tour, where group sizes run up to five or six passengers across proper rows of seats rather than a bench. For passengers, the practical difference comes down to cabin width and seat count more than performance: the R44 suits a couple or a small family wanting the aircraft to themselves, while the AS355's larger cabin is why it carries the shared, audio-guided tours with more passengers on board at once.

Regulation

Regulated airspace, licensed pilots

Barcelona's airspace around the coast and the Collserola hills is controlled by AENA, Spain's air navigation authority, and every flight departs and lands under its procedures rather than an informal arrangement. Pilots hold commercial licenses specific to the aircraft they're flying that day, and each flight gets a verbal and video safety briefing before boarding.

Flight times are confirmed 24 hours ahead rather than fixed months in advance, because weather, technical checks and air traffic control can shift a departure by an hour either way. That's the same standard applied to any AENA-regulated flight in Spain, not a policy specific to sightseeing tours.
